DESIGN

+ The quiet work behind natural beauty +

At Hortus Gardens, every landscape begins with listening—to the land, the architecture, the light, and the life it will hold. From there, design becomes discipline: where proportion, movement, plant character, seasonal rhythm, and long-term care are considered from the start. Installation brings that vision to fruition through experienced hands, thoughtful preparation, and careful placement. Maintenance carries the work forward with pruning, soil care, plant observation, and refinement. The result is a garden that feels effortless, matures beautifully, and becomes more personal with every passing year.

INSTALL

+ Skilled hands touch every detail +

Installation is where vision meets weather, soil, scale, and craft. Hortus understands both design and the living material itself, so every tree, stone, hedge, path, and plant layer is placed with experienced hands.

Thoughtful preparation and deliberate sequencing allows the landscape to settle naturally into its surroundings. As the work unfolds, our team responds to the nuances of the site, making the considered adjustments that turn a plan on paper into a garden built to last.

LARGE TREE TRANSPLANT

+ Thoughtfully preserving past growth +

A mature tree changes everything. It brings shade, structure, and resonance. It conveys the sense that a garden has belonged for a lifetime. It serves posterity.

With the acquisition of Carl Ray Landscape, our work expands in scale, capability, and the range of services we offer. With large-tree transplanting, spade transport, and installation, we have strengthened our capacity to serve the region with efficacy and precision.

This expansion brings new expertise, new team members, and enhanced possibilities to our work, fortifying the hands-in-the-dirt discipline that has always defined it.

HARDSCAPES

+ Foundations in service of the garden +

Hardscape gives a garden its bones, shaping movement, creating enclosure, and establishing the framework around what grows. Hortus approaches walls, walks, terraces, steps, and other built elements with the same care given to the living landscape. We consider proportion, material, craftsmanship, drainage, and the character of the site at each phase.

Every element is designed to feel purposeful, whether guiding the eye, defining space within the garden, or creating a quiet transition between architecture and landscape. The result is structure that feels settled into its surroundings, built to endure while allowing the garden itself to remain the focus.

MAINTAIN

+ Stewardship through every season +

A garden is a living composition, shaped as much by time and care as by its original design. Through seasonal pruning, soil care, plant observation, editing, and refinement, we steward each landscape beyond its first bloom.

Close attention allows us to respond as plants mature, relationships shift, and the garden reveals what it needs. The work is quiet but cumulative, allowing structures to strengthen, plantings to settle, and the garden to gain depth with every season.

Every garden begins with a place, purpose, and point of view.
